Suffolk Libraries Presents : AN IDEAL HUSBAND

Taking place today at 2:30pm and at 7:30pm. Suffolk Libraries Presents are amazing performances and cultural events recorded live and screened using top quality projection equipment.
This Rolls-Royce of English comedies brings an act of political sin into the heart of the English home, playing as part of Classic Spring’s year-long celebration of Wilde. An ambitious government minister, Sir Robert Chiltern, is on an assured smooth ascent to the top. Until Mrs Cheveley appears in London with damning proof of his previous financial chicanery, that is. An Ideal Husband is Wilde’s sharp and witty exploration of the corruption, blackmail and honour that ensues when political sin enters the heart of the English home. Real-life father and son, Edward and Freddie Fox, play fictional father and son in the show, while the brilliant Frances Barber plays Mrs. Cheveley. The production also stars Nathaniel Parker, Sally Bretton and Susan Hampshire. From the 2017 production at Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End.

BLACK & TAN FANTASY - HARMONY IN HARLEM

The Cambridge-based 15-piece jazz orchestra Harmony In Harlem return for their third performance at The Cut with another programme of authentic Duke Ellington. Extended versions of "Black & Tan Fantasy" and "The Mooche" form an exploration into Ellington jungle sounds alongside vibrant swing from the most famous composer/bandleader in jazz history. Harmony in Harlem's repertoire explores the full breadth of Ellingtonia from the 1930s through to the 1960s - a repertoire unique amongst UK performing jazz orchestras.

The Bohemian Choir - I'LL TAKE THAT ONE

The choir consists of eighteen students from the Technical university of Liberec. Liberec is a city in Bohemia, one hundred kilometres north of Prague. The singers are from many different faculties at the university, but the majority are studying to be teachers.
Concert lasts one hour and the choir sings contemporary and classical choral pieces. Stopford, Esenvalds. Dvorak and Smetana are some of the composers featured. With stories of the evacuation of children during wartime. Prepared by Jana Konvalinkova and Christopher Muffett.
