on Wednesday, 17th July 2019
Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
This talk relates to the Lee Krasner Living Colour, exhibition at the Barbican Centre, London. Pollock and Abstract Expressionism have long been associated with the white American male ego. In contrast, Fiona Fitzgerald will explore the work of contemporary female abstract artists such as Krasner, Nevelson and Mitchell. She will connect both the extent of their fame and their relative exclusion with the responses of their partners, gallery owners, critics and collectors.

Cinema @ The Cut - CRAZY RICH ASIANS

on Wednesday, 17th July 2019
Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Director Jon M. Chu, 2018, USA, 121 mins, with Awkwafina, Henry Golding, Constance Wu, Ken Jeong. Hailed as a 'spectacular comedy' this film is a romcom with a difference. It's plot is traditional enough - Rachel is the Cinderella rags-to-riches heroine - but, with a few minor exceptions, the entire cast is Asian, a watershed moment for Hollywood. It's pure escapism, set in Singapore's most luxurious locations where money will buy you anything and everyone is beautiful. There's more than a hint that this is a version of 'When Harry met Meghan'.
Ticket Details: Standard Ticket £6.00, Cinema Members £4.00
