Insects for Beginners, at RSPB Minsmere

Discover Minsmere in miniature as our guides introduce you to some of the smaller creatures that call Minsmere home. We’ll look for butterflies, dragonflies, bees and many more. Will you spot our lions, wolves or tigers? PLEASE NOTE that these walks may be cancelled in the event of wet weather. No dogs, except registered assistance dogs please.

Exhibition of Art Works by Michael Bullen

Taking place at The Studio in Walberswick from June 17th-29th. This remarkable building is an old wooden fisherman's house down by the harbour, built on stilts to protect it from the highest incoming tides. Large village car park nearby, also a couple of spaces at the Studio itself which can be used whilst at the Exhibition.
Michael is a long-established artist whose paintings and prints can also be viewed at his permanent exhibition at his Studio overlooking Market Place, Halesworth.

Southwold Arts Festival : The Street Festival

Southwold High Street is closed to traffic as the 2022 Festival launches with today's colourful street event on the theme of Rainbows.
Festivities start with a fancy-dress parade, which is open to all, starting at 11.45am at the police station, led by the Suffolk School of Samba, with their infectious music and dance. You may win a prize for the best and most colourful costumes.
Throughout the afternoon performers will entertain in the Market Place, while stalls will line the High Street providing food, drink and shopping opportunities.

Walberswick History Group: Charlie and The Dig

Language coach and raconteur, Charlie Haylock, will give us a behind the scenes account of the making of the film ‘The Dig’, and how he helped Ralph Fiennes with his Suffolk accent. Charlie is a great entertainer and a mine of information about the history of Suffolk, so this is sure to be a very enjoyable evening. After the talk there will be a chance to socialise over a glass of wine.

Open Space Theatre present : Women of Troy

By Euripides. Director David Green, featuring the work of choreographer, Caroline Mummery and composer, William Drew-Batty. Women are stranded on the beach outside the burning city of Troy as they wait to be “allocated” to members of the victorious Greek Army, to serve as slaves or concubines.
This timeless drama highlights the suffering of women and children when men go to war. First performed in 415 BC, the year after the Athenians killed all the men and enslaved the women and children on the island of Melos which had wanted to remain neutral in the war with Sparta.
