Amazing Autumn Wildlife at RSPB Minsmere

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert: Patrons of the Arts

One of The Southwold Arts Society Season of Lectures: Queen Victoria and Prince Albert: Patrons of the Arts and Art Collectors. Victoria and Albert, both born in 1819, were enthusiastic patrons of the arts throughout their marriage and viewed these roles as being part of the public duties of monarchy. Buckingham Palace was known as ‘the headquarters of taste’. This talk also challenges the image of Victoria as a melancholy widow and reveals her as a passionate and open-minded young woman. Speaker: Oliver Everett.

ARCHAEOLOGY IN AND AROUND HALESWORTH AND NORTH-EAST SUFFOLK

Presented by Halesworth and District U3A and with Dr Abby Antrobus. This talk will discuss archaeology in the north-east Suffolk area, and refers particularly to recent projects. It will also explain the role of the County Council’s archaeological service. Come and find out what’s been discovered recently in our area.
Our speaker has been the Senior Archaeological Officer at Suffolk County Council since 2012 and has a particular interest in Medieval urban archaeology.
This talk will be followed by a short U3A AGM for members.

Southwold Jazz Appreciation Society Meeting
