Puritan Food at Walpole Old Chapel

– 16:00 on Sunday, 12th September 2021
Organised by: Walpole Old Chapel
Venue: Walpole Old Chapel, Halesworth Road (B1117), Walpole IP19 9AZ link
This weekend the annual 'Ride and Stride' event takes place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September where fundraisers seek sponsorship to visit a number of houses of worship. While open for this event the Chapel is also open to visitors to see the recipes and taste the food that 'put the fire in the belly' of religious independents. Famously, Oliver Cromwell is said to have banned mince pies and Eccles cakes. But did he really? What were the Puritans' attitudes to food? Were they any different to anybody else's? Are there any Puritan recipes? Come and find answers and taste 'Cromwell's cake'.
Event followed by concert at 5pm - see separate entry.
Ticket Details: No booking required
